Silverpoint Makes Donation for Children in Need

With the help of many promotional clients, Silverpoint has raised a grand total of €700 for the Children in Need charity.

 Since May 2012, Silverpoint has been inviting each family or couple coming to stay at one of the resorts to donate £1 for Children in Need during the holiday booking process, with the promise that we will make an equal donation to the children’s charity in return.

The date to make the donation has finally arrived and Silverpoint is pleased to announce that its promotional clients donated a staggering €350. As promised, Silverpoint is making an equal donation, turning the total number of the fund raising efforts into €700.

Everyone at Silverpoint would like to give a huge thank you to all who gave a contribution and we hope we have helped make this year’s Children in Need the most successful to date.

Silverpoint Vacations Football Team Makes it to Semi Finals

The Silverpoint Vacations football team gave some spectacular performances in Tenerife this month. Taking part in the annual Soccer Experience International 7s tournament, the team notched up some dazzling victories across November’s fixtures.

 The Soccer Experience tournament began in 2007 and has been attracting teams from all over the world ever since. Some teams are even made up of ex-professional players, including Alex Rae of Millwall, Sunderland and Glasgow Rangers and Eric Nixon who played for Manchester City.

The first game for Silverpoint this season was against Liverpool Victoria – the 2009 winners – who unfortunately won 1-0. Not to be deterred, Silverpoint went on to win 1-0 against CWM London and 2-0 against Morfitts, followed by a 3-3 draw against Royal Asia All Stars.

In the second round, Silverpoint was even more successful, with a 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest Mobsters and a 0-0 draw against Liverpool Victoria.

However, the Silverpoint Vacations team’s luck came to an abrupt finish after a 0-0 draw against LA Masters/Club La Costa ended in a 7-6 loss on penalties during the semi final round. Guy Japhet – Silverpoint Vacations Telemarketing Manager – commented: “This year we were hoping to go one better and actually win, but we got knocked out in the semi final on penalties…again!”

Everyone at Silverpoint is looking forward to following Guy, Alan, Terry, Dean, Sammy, Ryan and Paul’s progress and wishes them the best of luck for their next tournament.

Silverpoint Introduces Comfort Zone in Tenerife South Airport

Silverpoint is giving you the opportunity to relax and take it easy before your flight by introducing the Silverpoint Comfort Zone – an added member benefit unlike anything seen before at the Reina Sofia airport in Tenerife.

 Located on the upper level of the airport, on your right after you’ve passed through security, the Silverpoint Comfort Zone is found in a tranquil and serene section of the building and is open every day from 10am until 7pm and until 9pm on Fridays.

We understand how stressful travelling can be – especially if you’re flying with little ones – so to make your journey home as comfortable as possible, Silverpoint has introduced a Comfort Zone, complete with plush vibrating chairs, which members and Privilege Card holders can enjoy for free.

If you’re not a Silverpoint member nor a Privilege Card holder, but could really do with a bit of rest and relaxation before your flight home, stop by one of the Silverpoint stands in the departure section and pick up a Comfort Zone Access Card. With this card, you can enjoy the facilities of the Comfort Zone for five minutes, before boarding your flight refreshed and relaxed.

Those of you travelling with little ones can take it easy in the Comfort Zone whilst the kids enjoy themselves in the nearby children’s play area. If that’s not enough to keep them entertained, you’ll also find children’s colouring books and competition forms that they can fill out for the chance to win a fantastic prize each quarter.

Silverpoint Employees Receive RCI Awards

Dimitris Manikis – Vice President Business Development, Resort Sales: Europe, Middle East and Africa – travelled to Tenerife to present four Silverpoint employees with prestigious awards for the hard work and dedication they’ve put in over the last year.

The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday morning, at the sales office in the Hollywood Mirage Club, with many Silverpoint employees attending, eager to find out who had won.

Before the awards were handed out, Dimitris talked about how important it is to rise above these rough times and was happy to note that despite the tough economic climate, the Hollywood Mirage Club was still beautifully kept and offered a wide range of services for all guests to enjoy.

The first to step on to the podium was Sales Director, David Taylor, who, on behalf of Silverpoint, picked up the award for Top Regional Performer 2011. He was followed by Peter Wallbridge who received an award for Manager of the Year. The third certificate was presented to Peter Winchester for Salesperson of the Year and Beverly Clover – Silverpoint’s Customer Service Manager – picked up the final award for Employee of the Year.

Silverpoint Announces Times Competition Winner

Robert Huntley is the proud winner of the Silverpoint holiday competition that was featured in the Times newspaper earlier this year.

Mr Huntley was thrilled and could hardly believe it when he received a phone call from a member of staff telling him he had won the competition. He and his wife are looking forward to jetting off to Tenerife later this year to enjoy their five-day sun-kissed vacation, all courtesy of Silverpoint.

Silverpoint Raises Money for Volunteer Fire Fighters

On Saturday, August 18^th, two Silverpoint employees took part in a charity football match at the Tenerife Top Training pitch in Adeje. 

Huge fundraising efforts were made by everyone involved to replace the equipment which was destroyed during the fire fighting endeavours against the fires which raged throughout Tenerife this summer. 

Telemarketing Manager Guy Japhet and Canvasser Stephen Wright formed part of the select XI which played against Tenerife Sur. After a challenging match, the final score was 7-2 to Tenerife Sur.

After the match, everyone headed to the follow-up charity event which was held at the Full Monty Bar in Playa de las Americas. Despite the disappointing football score, spirits were high and everyone enjoyed the day which was packed with children’s activities – including bouncy castles and face painting – and live entertainment provided by the acts for free.

A raffle was also held on the same day which raised a large sum for the volunteer fire fighters. There were loads of great prizes up for grabs to tempt everyone, including a week of accommodation in Tenerife donated by Silverpoint.

Silverpoint Sponsors Ingane Yami Golf Tournament

Silverpoint is proudly sponsoring one of the holes during the third annual Ingane Yami Golf Tournament hosted by Pearly Grey Ocean Club in collaboration with OasisFM.

The golf tournament will take place over the course of two days – Saturday August 4^th and Sunday August 5^th – at Amarilla Golf to raise funds for the Ingane Yami Children’s Village. 

The Singles Stableford games will be held on Saturday, followed by Team Texas Scramble on Sunday, with a brand new car up for grabs for the lucky player who hits a hole-in-one.

Ingane Yami is a non-profit organisation established in response to the growing AIDS crisis in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. The charity works hard to rescue orphaned and abandoned children trapped in vulnerable circumstances and raise them in a loving family home in the Children’s Village to give them a better chance in life.

The Children’s Village was officially opened in March 18^th this year and the last two homes in cluster one will soon be completed, allowing construction of the community hall and the crèche to begin very shortly.
